This is like asking "what is your favorite color", there are so many good servos on the market to choose from & everyone has favorite. I will list what I run. On the comp rig I run a Hitec 7955TG, on the scale rigs I run Cirrus 704mg & my son is running a Hitec 645mg. The 7955 is about $100 & I love it but it is pricey. The Cirrus 704 & the Hitec 645 can be had for about $30 each, 1 warning about the Cirrus, if you run an fm/am radio I would go with a Hitec as I have had interference problems but if using a 2.4ghz radio then I like the Cirrus. |

I'm going to use an Ace 1015 servo. 200 oz/in of torque and a .10 transit time at 6v, I'll be powering it with a 7.4v lipo. Should be plenty, although anything rated at 300+ or 400+ should also be more than enough torque. Typically the gears in such servos are also stronger, however the reaction speeds of them are slower. With a crawler this may not matter, however the 1015 is the strongest servo I own and probably plenty strong for my first crawler...but I definitely may look into a 400+ oz/in servo in the future if I like crawling as much as I think I will If you're serious enough there's no reason to go cheap on a steering servo, the more torque the better. Titanium gears instead of metal or plastic = awesome. I can assure you that spending 100ish or more on a good servo initially rather than 30 on several crappy cheapo's will definitely work out for the better in the long run.
