Default spare everything

I bought another 1/18 Nylint. Having 2 of these things is the key. No worries about braking parts w/spare everything. The $45 ain't going to kill you and imo it's definitely worth it. This one has no serial# and blue/gray shocks.

It's easy. Cut four coils out of the shocks. You'll also get a longer wheelbase in conjunction with the lower stance.

Oh, and Lt. Dan...if it has the blue/gray shocks I'm willing to bet that the screws on the planetaries aren't threadlocked.

Cut the coils like JIA said. You will also have to hack apart most of the jeep for clearance. I have also lowered the body and have custom shock mounts.

JIA, you are right about the threadlock. How did you know that? Good call, thanks for the heads-up.

'Cause I'm the smartest guy I know.

Anyway...

My Scorpion didn't have a serial number, had the blue/gray shocks, and didn't have threadlock on the planetaries.

My Jeep (SN# 1324, I think) has gray/gray shocks and Tamiya type "glue" threadlock on the planetaries.

I just had a feeling that if my Scorp with the blue/gray shocks and no SN was missing threadlock your Jeep with blue/gray shocks and no SN would be as well. ;)

I think the rigs with no SN were the initial batch...that's the reason we got the oddball shocks, lack of SN stickers, and threadlock that's MIA.

The front axle on my new rig is clicking on every revolution and the steering makes a loud humming noise when @ full lock. My other rig didn't have these problems. The front hubs on my older rig are stripping out badly. It binds now @ full lock when the axle ends pop out of the plastic hex piece. Need aftermarket replacement parts badly. Anyone know what's wrong w/my new one?

Does it click in High as well?

I noticed there's a bit of left/right play in the low output gear (orange) on the planetary. Might be the source of the problem. If so, you could shim it to get rid of the play.

As far as humming at full lock, that's the steering motor spinning inside the pinion on the steering motor.

Anyone know how to re-install the steering gears and return spring? I have no idea where it came from. Most of the gears kinda fell out on me before I could see anything.

your spring prolly looks like the green insert and you need to get it like the red.

Ok, I'll try and put it back together. Do you think gorilla glue will hold the pinion on to the steering motor? If not, do you have any advice as to what I should do?
