| just kidding// anyway here is my latest mod//flippin the rear straight up//good approach & departure angles//i just need to put shocks on it now.. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() stock radio with modified servo..the rear swivels with very little axle steer//need shocks cause it rotates all the way around.. wheel way good though. if anybody wants more info let me know.. | its the same as before.. if you set it on a flat surface with an object that is same as clearance flat & straight up it is the same.. its round except for the front(top now)part.. i see what you mean now//but its sitting on a round top box//lol doesnt show off clearance too well. it is same as before//i bet you a beer!! | looks like when it flexes its going to make all kinds of crazy angles...i would cut off some of the 90 that faces down so that the horizontal part of the bolt sits flat with the now top of the differential....cut a small slit for it even...your geometry is really off right now though...when it flexes it will look like a pendulum. |

i'm gonna lower the back//i just need to undo nuts & run it down on the threads//it was just a rough guess when i put it together..but i wanted to wheel it before i went any further..it wheels good/i'm gonna lengthen the wheelbase about a half or 3/4" by unscrewing the all thread extension pivot in middle/then i am gonna try lowering the back down with no nut above the axle mount.& the front is missing 1 shock after servo install//havent gotten around to making new mounts yet..then i will build a shock mount for the rear once i get the height right..it goes over rocks i couldn't get over before//so i'm happy with da hoopty !!

Whenever the rear axle flexes, the angle is going to throw the axle way out to the side making it easier for it to tip over. Like metioned it will be a pendulum!

ok,took top nut off of back, notched rear axle where all thread now sits in a little groove. lowered about an inch. it sits level now. no shocks yet. i notched frame so the all thread sits up in it a little.then ran wire form shock mounts under the all thread so it pivots. works awsome. best mod yet!!that & steering. it will go up & over stuff that it wouldnt even come close to making before.. i'll get some pics or a vid later.

Does the rear axle turn and make it steer weird. Which part rotates on the bolt. On the axle or from the blue link. I think putting shocks on it would limit the flex. I need to see some flexing pic's and a vid. To even think it would work. The only way I think this could be done is to rotate the axle a littile over 3/4 of the way up. almost straight up and down. Then drill a hole all the way through the axle and run a pic pin though it. And Run your bolt through the bic pen. This way the bolt wouldn't be bent and the suspension would still work the same. The only problem would be if the drilling the hole would hit anything. You really wouldn't be able to mount shock in the rear. But it would be easy to mount limiting straps. If this doesn't make any since I draw it up and post them.

axle doesnt turn/flexes till it hits the body, no problems with binding. it swivles in the middle at the all thread extension.& can lengthen or shorten wheelbase easy.. motor is in the way to drill through center. only thing i might change is to remove all 3 blue links. then mount the bolt up by the upper shock mounts somehow. then i could hack off the rest of the belly

Thanx!! i strive for the weirdest creation. when the axle is in the up position, so is the motor. so you dont have that big dingus of a motor gettin hung up// good approach & departure angles for the axle/ when you simply flip the rear, you now have an anchor pointing backwards instead of forwards like stock!! & i hate stock stuff with that mod & the shave, my rear hardly evar gets hung up!! & if it does it gets free alot easier!! i am surprised nobody else is doing this.. | |

I actually thought of doing that this morning, but I figured I would rather make nice looking plexi tabs and four link it than twist it up like that and use the old mount just to end up with nearly the same limited travel.

Limited travel? That thing should flex 90degrees or better in the rear. Though the axle will walk sideways some due to the bent link. It will flex more than you could use, that's for sure. Soon as you move the axle away from those blue links, the flex goes out of control, shocks allowing.

Flex? what flex, there are no leaf springs or coils compressing and unloading, hence there is no flex. he has droop. and a lot of it. which will be useless when it droops out to 90 deg because he'll be rolling over in any postion that makes him droop out that far anyway. I'm sure it works great most of the time and wasn't picking on it, like i said I had considered doing it. After putting his shocks back on he will end up with the same amount of travel. SO yes its limited, limited just as much as before he modded it. Which isn't what he was worried about anyway he just wanted less crap to get hung up on in the rear. Mission accomplished. I think it is still cool, may even go back and do it once my 2.2's are on if I need that lil bit more approach and departure.

i am thinking about a new design that will eliminate the axle rotating out. it will be almost the same but the pivot will be in the same as stock. ...___ _ / ...\ kinda llike that. best i could design on my work laptop!! existing looks like this. ____ \ ...........................................\ dots are there for proper placement of lines only Last edited by jeepguy; 01-12-2006 at 10:07 AM.
