ok im not sure where this goes, so ill put it here and you mods can hockey-puck it to wherever you see fit. anyway, my LHS is run by this old guy who has had his shop for like 30 years. he has a basement full of vintage r/c... no joke he has like 25 assorted tamiya 3 speeds!!! (unfortunatley he knows they are worth money) but like 8 months back he had this cool kyosho chain drive truck. it looked a lot like a bruiser/mountaineer, he joked that it was "kyosho's answer to the bruiser". he sold it before i got a chance to pick it up or really look at it too close ( i wasnt into crawlers yet). i asked him about it the other day, and he says he has 2 more in his basement that he will sell me for $100 each, ive been trying to find something about them for a while, but havent found much. i think its a kyosho chevy 4x4 but im not certain. any help? how much are they worth? any good sites with info?

I remember that truck, it's not a USA-1. It was like a 2.2 size truck with a chain drive grear train. If all my r/c catalogs from 20 years ago weren't still packed away I'd see if I could find any info on it. :( Sorry.

I think it would be worth buying just cuz nobody remembers what it is. I remember wanting one when I was a kid cuz I couldn't afford a Bruiser and the Kyosho was the next best looking rig scale-wise.

Yes, it is a Kyosho 4x4 chain driven. I am not sure of the proper name of it. I have always seen them refrred to on Ebay as Kyosho 4x4. They are only worth $100 in decent shape. I was a Bruiser type truck but never the quaulity of the Bruiser.

yeah, thats what i was HOPING it was...............but i went there today, big letdown. he didnt have one, it was a "hirobo" something or other. it had a sealed battery compartment, and belt driven 4wd. it was pretty cool, but it would be a better dune car than a crawler. im totally bummed out. but at least its the kyosho 4x4 isnt as rare as i thought. if anyone has one, LMK. P.S. thanks for the help guys.

That's funny, a "powerful .06 engine". We sure have come a long way since then. Those Dunlop tires on the Datsun are pretty cool. I wish more companies would produce more "scale" models like those.

I remember drooling over the catalogs in the early 80's. They were the only game in town at the time.

I had one of the chevy ones...red and white just like the pics. It was different is all I can say. Looked pretty cool, but they chain they used really sucked. It seemed Kinda like a heavy metal wire like whats used in paperclips, bent into links. Not good. Didn't seem too efficient either. Maybe worth something now, but as something to use, was not really that good.
