| want an extra 1 3/8" track width with stock parts?
I pulled my 2.2s off to paint the wheels black and narrow the rims and figured I would put the stockers back on until I finished. Then I realized it probably wouldnt work too well since I had cut the nubs on the 1.5" piece. So, I just mounted them backwards. I put the 1.9" piece on as the outer and used the face of the 1.5" piece as the inside of the back half of the wheel and my track width went from 7" (with stockers) to 8-3/8" To do this with your rims as they are now, just drill the stock screw holes on the 1.5, recess the face down against the rubber (make sure to pull the edges of the tire up and around to get them in there right) and go through the stock holes on the 1.9 piece. You will probably need some longer screws. Also, use a boring bit to open up the rear hub hole so you can get a socket into there. I will post up some pics when I get a chance to make all this clearer. Granted, this wont be as asthetically pleasing as the chrome part showing, but paint it black and it wont be too bad, and it should be less tippy. |
