| A prototype dig . . . . Video Added!
It's a prototype that I'm testing. It shifts really smooth! Last edited by kwkride; 04-06-2009 at 09:13 PM. |

I've only got a couple of packs through it so far, but it's working really well at this point. I'll really test it at the comp this weekend. I like the fact that the rear driveshaft is a fixed length with this setup. It doesn't move in and out when you shift this dig. |

OK, now that I've had time to run this dig through a comp . . . . I am very happy with the performance at this point. There were two of us that were running this dig unit today. There is a small change that will be made based on something that both of us experienced today. But trust me when I say that the issue is minor. In fact I placed third in the comp today and the other person running this dig unit finished in first. Also, just to let you know that we are not babying our rigs. The other person broke the ears off of a metal driveshaft yoke yesterday, and I broke an axle shaft on the finals course today. For further information, I have not had to readjust my EPAs since the initial setup of this dig. It seems to be a "set it and forget it" type of thing so far. With this design, the servo is only shifting the dig, it is not used to hold pressure against the dig to hold it in 4wd or dig. Looking good so far! |

Yup, I was at the shop last night scrambling. Nuked 2 Traxxas steel U joints in about 3 seconds. Dig was holding strong...

One step closer.... I have altered 1 small design issue to facilitate better "dig" engagement and disengagement. Before, you would have to bounce the throttle in reverse to relieve pressure. So far, the unit is working great. It is being ran on 2 rigs right now. We have used 3 different servos (Hobbico CS-12mg, JR ST47, and Hitec 225mg). The servos have been ran with and without servo savers with no issues. I have 20 or so full packs through my rig, Jim has 10 or so. No part failure and no sign of wear on any parts. Now, for some more pictures... ... |

Thanks. The size was an issue I wanted to tackle. After watching several local guys struggle to get a dig into tubers I knew small would be a selling point. Also, the fact that the dig can be ran with all stock Axial internals means it takes more time to take the trans our of the truck then it does to actually bolt the dig on. |
