Yeah, the ORCRC crew can't seem to stay dry for long - just check out some of thier vids, it's good times.

Mud/Water proofing has been discussed before, try and search for more threads about it.

Basically, the most important parts you want to protect are your electronics. Seal up or ballon your elecronics, Plasti-Dip your servos. A motor will still run underwater without any kind of protection, but keep in mind, it may draw in a lot of dirt and stuff, and be sure to hit it with some motor spray afterwards, and make sure it is completely dry. As for batteries, I am not too sure how people deal with that - I mean, they will still work underwater, but they would probably get water underneath the shrink wrap and rust. You may want to balloon them as well.

you dont really need to waterproof the batteries ... as for motors, a little duck tape on the holes keeps dirt out.

I'm one of those ORCRC nut guys.... I have no waterproofing, although I don't suggest my madness to everyone

In this picture there lives TLT axles, Mashers, 'Pede tranny, Lathe motor, Super Rooster, Hitec 5645MG servo, Novak receiver and a cheap Ni-Cd pack. No water proofing...

ORCRC is always looking for water...

Old picture of rbgerrish's Maxx/Kong/water rig thing-a-ma-bob....

OR... check out www.ORCRC.com and watch our videos.

Who, me? Or someone else that replied? Use the "quote" tool to help us follow you. RCC has gone over steps to waterproof our rigs a number of times, use the advanced search to narrow down your searching.

Water + electricty = BAD news. ESC and water = a no no. Servos can handle a decent amount as the rubber o-rings tend to seal out most water, a dab of silicone or Shoe-Goo at the output splines can help keep water out. Motors will run under water fine, it's just when dirt/mud gets into the motor it'll start to go bad. Batteries can handle water fine, but try to keep them out of the wet stuff.

It comes down to common knowledge... if you have some brains in your head, then you'll know what shouldn't get wet. You might have to re-build the gear cases, diffs, tranny and more if things get really nasty. I have NEVER taken my TLT axles apart and they have seen a ton of water and mud, been going strong and breakage free for over a year

For the ESC you can stick it into a small tupaware container or a some sort of sealed box...but be sure it won't overheat. Best bet is to either mount it up as high as you can and make some lexan splash shields OR buy a waterproof ESC. There are several waterproof ESC's out there for under $60 US Dollars.

It's the stuff used to put a rubber coating on tool handles. You just dip it and let it dry.

Sean and I were just out in the water today. Balloons around the receiver AND speed controller, zip tie the ends, silicon seal the ends. Worked perfectly fully underwater. Stay tuned for one -sick- video!
