Default Drilling the Rims?

Does drilling the holes in the wheels let more air out on the 1:18. I saw they do it to the 1:6's, but didn't know if the 1:18th weighed enough. Has anyone done it yet to the small ones?

I drilled mine out too; it looks better, but doesn't seem to do anything.
