| wall thickness of 3/8" tubing for 8-32 threaded rod
I'm gonna be working with 8-32 threaded rod and 3/8" tubing. I would like the threaded rod to fit snug inside the tubing so what inside diameter do i aim for? I have these options for inside diameter: .245 .277 .305 .319 Thanks Chris |

I looked at some other options and it seems .235 is the smallest inside diameter I can achieve with 3/8 aluminum tubing. I guess that's better than nothing.

The fractional equivalent drill bit for tapping 8-32 is 9/64"...so you'd need .140 ID or smaller to get it to work. The .235 is almost 1/4"...so 8-32 thread would fall right through. Too large of an ID for 8-32. |
