| Suspension change #2 (pics added)
While I'm waiting on pics, I'll tell you what I've been up to. I re-did the suspension. So far I am very pleased with it's performance. I cut the shock portion out of the front springs and melted the coils to the shock mounts. I then used zip ties to hold the shock mounts rigid. Doing so keeps the springs straighter which limits travel (bonus). I need to finish the wiring portion before I can trail test it, but I might cut the zip ties if it's stable with that much flex. I also extended the front axle forward about 3/4" so that the back of the axle would no longer hit the control arm anymore. Now the wheel base is now at 9.25" I think this length will work better for climbing. While I had it all torn apart, I tried making a tummy tuck and skid plate. I gave up with the soda can and just chopped it all off. I cut out everything underneath; well everything except for the tabs where the control arms bolt on. Now the control arms are the part that hangs lowest. I cut everything off flush with the where the band select switch is located; the "bottom" of the battery box. The pictures will elaborate. Besauce of the big chop, I'm expirmenting with battery locations. For the first go-round I have the battery zip tied to the front shock tower I made. This puts the battery right behind the grill directly above the front axle, but out of the way enough to allow for full suspension flex. The F/R weight bias is definately stacked to the front end; which will help for climbs. I'll post up pics as soon as I can. Last edited by rerock; 10-11-2005 at 09:47 AM. |

Here's some pics. Got it out on the rocks last night! Thing is just awesome! This set up is perfect! Flexy, but not too much, great grip with the new cuts on the tires... |

All I got is my camera phone right now. Sorry. No digi cam and no home computer. Work won't let me add stuff to this PC.
