Mine is almost all natural. I have extreme arcnafobia (sp?) so lifting rocks up isnt really my kinda thing, unless i flip them over 6 times and throw them onto another rock just to make sure there is nothing on there lol. wich is also extremely time consuming.... I still need to get all the leaves out of there from last fall. PICS ARE COMING BOYS! heres a vid so you can kinda see whats going on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PADcgUA50c Last edited by madmax22; 05-16-2009 at 08:45 PM. |

Reflection, that is sweet. Wish I was back into rc's last year when I drove back that way. SoCalMike that is nice too. I think I could work that into my yard and my wife wouldn't ask what are those rocks there for?

Here's my backyard course photos: This is "The Wedge". All my friends come over to test their rig on the Wedge. With a stock AX-10 and stock tires...it's virtually impossible. The slant, narrowness and steepness, conspire against stock tires. Another angle The rest of the rocks in that area The backside...usually the starting point...multiple routes up and over. close up Another route Better not be top heavy |

here is my situation/problem. i can only afford 3 toyota 4 runners cargo area worth of rocks(with the back seat folded down). so i have to use the rock wisely for my course. my question is should i go out and buy some dirt to make the outline of the course and then put the rocks on the dirt once i have a good layout for the course. or should i just dump the rocks in the backyard and let them lie where they fall?? or is there another option. any help is appreciated. will get a photo of what i have in the yard when i get home next week:-(

| very cool pics guys
nice pics, alot of great ideas. I need to start mine some, been picking up rock were I can , can't aford to buy them. Thanks for the ideas, keep sending them in. I'll post some soon , I got enough to get it started, now I see to use boards and styff to get elevation without stacking rocks 5 ft high. |

yeah the idea of using wooden boards to help with elevation changes is a great idea. between the dirt and wood i shoudl be able to get a decent course started. when i run out of money i will have to make some fake rocks like some of the other people who have built indoor courses. here is a link to a good course: backyard homemade crawl spot build thread anyone have any links to the threads where people made fake rocks??? Try stacking used pallets up, great for elevation and to use as the start of an incline. You can screw in some small wood pieces to act as a shelf for the rocks to hold them in place and it's easy to change the lines once you get tired of the current one.
