Trouble with yoke slipping of dig output shaft...suggestions?

I'm currently running a custom axial rig with an SWX chassis, DNA dig, and Axial yokes/driveshafts. I cut down the rear driveshaft and it has plenty of compression in the shaft. But for some reason after a few uses of the dig, the yoke will slip off the rear output. I was only running one set screw, but now I put in a second.

Just wondering if anyone else has this issue and what they've done to remediate it?

I'm running MIP driveshafts drilled and tapped 10-32 with 2 set screws:shock:

I'm going to pull the shaft (that sounds wrong) and file it down real smooth on both sides. I'm wondering if there is too much friction (again this sounds wrong) when the shaft compresses in and is then pulled back. (my god...am I writing porn).

This coming from a member named "goldmemeber"

I saw this rig on sunday. The rear output shaft from DNA is not long enough for adequate contact surface area for the set screw on the yolk to the rear driveshaft. I suggested filing the end of the yolk down until the set screw can hold the yolk onto the output shaft properly.

I did file that down like we talked about and it still slipped off. That's when I opted for 2 set screws. Got tired and frustrated and didn't test to see if that did the trick.

Ideally, I'd like to drill out the output and have an extra long set screw pass through the the yoke and output shaft. I'm just surprised no one else has had the same issue. I'm using coming parts for the buildup.

You should have started w/ 2 setscrews. 2 set screws are mandatory IMO.

I would use 2 set screws, make sure the shaft slides on the output far enough, and then I would install the shaft with 2 set screws, tighten them down, then take off the shaft and make 2 little divits(sp) with a small drill bit so the setscrews have a little indention to go down into.

Are you using threadlock? If not you need to.

Thanks Scattman!

Looks like I was on the right track. I'm going to drill those two indents, that should do the trick "thumbsup"
