| PIG Gets a Rebuild
This is PIG PIG is in need of a tear down and rebuild, PIG has been having dog bone problems for a little while I have been ignoring lol Being PIG's axles were from a Goliath Pro I figured I might be looking for new axles to start with but figured I might as well see what 2 hard months on these axles had done for damage considering the gears in it are plastic and I have showed the axles no mercy. Well figured out what the clicking was in the front end lol I had thought one end of the pins had broken off not the pins had managed to move in the dog bone. I peaned the center of the pins and pressed them back in and they seem nice and tight. I will put these dog bones in the rear with the pins that had moved in the center cups so they wont see any angled action. this pic shows one fixed Well this is the first time I have had these axles apart since I received the PTI Goliath new so wasn't sure what I would find but was pleasantly surprised to find the gears look just like new even tho there wasn't a speck of grease in there. Well I serviced the shocks they were binding and not smooth at all, but are working nice and smooth now. The front output shafts took the messed up dog bone ends hard but will work fine in the rear where they will stay in one position and should be just a little sloppy but should be no problem back there lol After servicing the bearings it was time to pack that front gear box with some grease and put it back together. This will end up being the rear axle I'm also going to flip the axles to get a little more axle clearance. Now this confused me the front axle had not one bit of grease in it but when I opened the rear axle ???????? Grease ???? where that come from??? I know for a fact these axles have never been opened so whats up with that?? well cleaned the tires, and rims so they would be nice and sticky for the incline board when I get it all back together. I get a kick out of how big the memory foams are lol All clean and back together nice and sticky Ok back to putting it together lol Servo all mounted back up, raised it up a little with some ball end balls and put a riser on the pivot arm end to smooth out the steering a little New front end formally rear end al mounted in, with the newly serviced front shocks every thing is moving nice and smooth now. This is where I'm at on it now I'll update more tomorrow I want to take out the tranny and go over it also since I haven't had it apart since I received it in trade. More tomorrow. |

Funny thing is its only been built for a little over 2 weeks lol But the axles have been run for like 3 months(and I beat the snots out of them) The tranny in the chassis came with with the chassis and I just feel the need to have a look inside since I havnt looked in there yet. I'll be updating later today as I get more done to it. I dont mess around on these projects so I'll probably have it back together tonight lol |

Well got back on it and got the tranny out, I found I cant take it apart, its super glued. I guerr the riser that was added to the tranny was glued and it wicked up the seams of the tranny, but its nice and smooth, and tight so I dont see there being a problem with it. How stampede steel output yolks were welded on. Tranny all clean and motor back on it with wires switched to reverse rotation since I flipped the axles. PIG all nakid and exposing it all. Body panels all off and lightly sanded with 480 grit sand paper. Electronics plate all mounted back up. Tranny back in and top links hooked up to rear end. Rear shocks all cleaned and serviced. One rear shock and lower link hooked up. And I present you with PIG's new look. Manditory Articulation shots Well now its just a waiting game for my new steering servo the futaba, traxxas, tower pro servo is not cutting it so I'll be shelfing it untill the servo I bought arives. |

lol very entertaining rebuild..not sure what kinda tranny that is, but even if it weren't superglued together I don't see you getting it apart with the welded yolks to the diff.

Cool truck, but is there no-where else to put the battery? Must be blocking the drivers view sitting up there, not to mention C of G. Cheers. |
