I recently bought a used r2 transmission but have a few questions. I emailed rc4wd but cant seem to get a response. I'm looking for a pinion gear. I know i need 8 tooth 32pitch gear but i dont know if i need a long one ore a regular length. Any help is appreciated.

What are you putting it in? It comes w/ an 8 tooth. . . if you don't want to go over 1mph. . .

Any standard 32 pitch pinion will work fine, you do not need anything special.

I'm running a 16T gear. The only issue I had was that the opening in the back of the tranny where the motor attatches to the tranny won't allow for the 16T gear to fit inside, so I had to remove the lexan cover on the front side, drop the pinion gear into the tranny and attatch it to the motor shaft, then bolt on the motor. It isn't too hard, but it is a slight PIA. I woudnn't use a 7T puller motor, the tranny won't last very long. Mine was screaming when I used a 500 Cobalt motor, so I had to switch to a 35T handwound motor. |

I had the same problem. I just used the dremel to clearance the opening a little to fit the pinion. Just had to take a hair off. | |
