What gives you more articulation??
 

planning stuff for the future build, on a 4 link suspension, what will give you more articulation?? is it the location/position of the top link connecting the bottom?? is it the shocks?? or is this a question with too much answer??

The travel of the shocks......assuming that your suspension doesnt bind and limit the travel before the full extension/compression of the shocks.

That said......it is possible to have too much articulation.

just looked at my truck, and put that theory to to the test and it stood true, my shock bind on another suspension part and limited the articulation.

How much are you aiming for. Most people will agree that you probally dont want enough that when one set of tires are on the ground the other set is vertical...like the man said you CAN have to much.

not sure how much, but for my current truck I want to get more. gotta figure a way around the shocks

try to get the shocks laid down more if you can but i can have my front tires flat like normal and one of my tires laying on the side wall of one of the rear tires and thats my max flex and i almlost never hit max flex but i do come close about within an 1/8 of an inch to max on the shock shaft

I'll try to get pics later tonight, I need to help my bro move today. I'm not sure what else can be don't to my Tundra Hi-lift, it seem like alot of things are in the way.

hi-lifts werent really meant to get articulation they're meant for scale crawling and driving around on small rocks.

I kinda found that out the hard way, I did however put a 4 link suspension on it, it helped alot, but still kinda lacking. I just want to get a general idea for a future tuber build.

well if you get some good shocks (losi etc.) and maybe look at some rigs for the four link you can get a pretty good suspension going you just have to think about your link geometry.

Rarely do I run out of articulation, this is one of those times. I have see peeps with a lot of articulation suffer from torque twist a lot more than those that have their crawlers sprung a little tighter.

Sorry about the late pics and response, but here is the pics. The truck has Junfac 4 link suspension with 94mm GMade Team Zero shocks. This first pic shows the first of the kinks, the spring " perch " if you will, is in contact with the screw that bolt the linkage mount to the axle.

Here's the a little of the aritculation, the bottle is about 3.5" tall, but the back tire is about 1" of the ground. I feel it actually is not really articulation, it is more body and chassis roll

I don't think there is much to be done with this, I think I'll just keep this the way it is, and get a SCX10 later to make a Scale truck.

Thats fairly decent out of a hi-lift

If you want mega articulation, get a rock crawler. Not that huge flex will help you

My scaler has about the same and it goes everywhere any other scaler i have seen go. It reacts like a real car and is very predictable.

In my axial based rig i have about 50degrees which is just a little too much for me.

Articulation is over rated...."thumbsup"

This is an old thread, but for what it's worth, I can see a few areas to get more articulation judging from the photos.

If you look at the shocks, they're not bottomed out. That tells me that the front shock springs are too stiff. Relocating the shocks to the top of the axle would also help I would think.

Now, if the suspension links are hitting the chassis (can't tell from the photo), then there isn't a whole lot you can do other than start looking for ways to relocate the links without putting the geometry way outta wack.
