Default Chassis Mod?

What if I cut the top half of my edge chassis and bolted it on my current chassis and added the proper panels hood, top and sides, would this be illegal to enter a comp? I looked at the usrcca rules and I'm not sure if this would work with there rules. I didn't see anything about modifying tube chassis's, just read that they had to have hood, top, and side panels. Any advice would be cool, before I hack my Edge.

Instead of destroying the Edge, why not just get a body for your chassis?

Most of the complaints of the Edge are that it is too top heavy...seems like you are going to make your current chassis top heavy.
