Default whats hot, whats not. post good and bad setups and products

I thought I would start this to let people voice there opinions on things they have tried and weather they worked or not

info on not so good set ups and products will help alot of people to avoid problems and good info helps us all

I think fake rocks are hot, for the simple reason, rain, sleet, dead of night I can test and practice in my garage or basement

What I got so far:

got foam

shaped it

now I just need to cover it with grout/stucco

I hope to be able to hang from rafters in garage when not in use, rope and pulley's or something.

where would someone look to get some foam block like that? I know WEROCK uses this block with spray on concrete for some of there coarses and I would love to get some to add to my coarse.

Looks like what they use to setup a boat dock.

I believe they use Shotcrete/Gunite. And yes....the old WERock Courses make some GREAT crawler courses:

Default Foam

I just e mailed a local boat dock place and asked if they had any old stuff that they wanted gone and the first one I called siad yes.

You just have to check around at places that sell or deal with docks and boat lifts. the old stuff is water logged and very heavy, not all but some.

otherwise I have no idea were to find foam like this for free...

Today was trash day in a neighborhood near my daughter's school.
The coolest part was that they do not use the trash cans that get
picked up by a robotic arm and dumped. They still use manual labor
to pick up and dump the cans. People also put large items, boxes,
and other trash just sitting next to the cans.

It was very easy to drive around and fill up the whole car with styrofoam
pieces! Some 4' long flat pieces but mostly large chunks that can be glued
to a board then shaped with a meat cutting knife.

I found out another way to get some free styrofoam. Go to pet stores
that sell tropical fish. I went by mine today because I remembered that
they ship the fish in plastic bags but then they are packed in styrofoam
containers much like an ice chest. Sure enough, they still receive them this
way so I got some more clean white styrofoam today!

Looking at how they did it here:

I will at least save the cost of the sheets of styrofoam.
