| Scale Jeep Nylint
Hey, I got bored last night and started thinking. Im goning to make a Frame like a brusiers for my jeep. its gonna be scale but not Superscale. The frame Will be Steel. Im doing the 4-link mod and hopefully if i can get a hold of a front axle the 4-wheel steer mod. I'll throw up some pics of the Mock chassis and what its started of the steel one. Thanks, NATE Last edited by Xtremekrawler8; 11-09-2005 at 09:50 PM. Reason: title |

Do you think the nylint axles will be able to hold up? Steel frames can get pretty heavy with the wrong material.

I'm going to do a scale build with my nylint. I'm going to get a Proline 70' Ford F100 body and stretch the nylint by way of stick chassis to fit the body.

gotta love the clod bodies, i think it would look a lil better just a bit lower though :P but probably would perform worse, anyways, good idea with the scale project !

How does the weight compare to the plastic?

It weighs about 1/2 lb. more with the frame compared to fully loaded with the other plastic frame. but the weigh will take some of the stiffness out of the springs. but i dont know the ground clearance or articulation i will get though. dont even know the ride height yet. hopefully today i can get it welded up and start on the shock hoops for the front and maby mount the front end tonight. maby. nate |

What are you using to weld/braze the chassis together. What are you using to bend the tubes?

| Most of the bodywork done
Got some most of the body work done tonight. heres the list of what i did: dovetailed the rear. sanded off the whole truck area for a nice flat area. dovetailed the roll cage. bondo'd the rear to hid the seam in the middle and sanded smooth. now the pics NATE |

You show much more restraint than I do in your body work. I just got done bobbing the back off of my body, I followed the angle of the front of the rear wheel and cut up through the tub. Cut the cage off behind the driver's loop (the posts behind the seats). Bobbed the tonneu up to match the new rear line of the tub, then cut the front fenders off, lets just say I won't be having any problems with tire clearance. I need to finish smoothing the cuts on what's left of the cage and paint the thing, again. Gave me something to do while I get things sorted for my stick chassis and Ford body.

man that looks good !! cant wait to see how the frame turns out, once i get tired of the look of the jeep body im going to either get a different body (that clod looks good hehe) or braze a tube frame up, keep updating the rig though, its awesome

Got the frame all welded, holes drilled, and shocks and links put it. all thats left to do is buy some more all thread and make 2 upper links and 1 lower link. then slap in the electroinics back in and she be running again. Pics: LMK what ya think, Nate |

looks like it sits really high... I would lower it why are you using nylint axles (not putting down just wondering) after going to all that trouble I would want to run clod axles or something |

Clod axels are wider than the truck is long.

looks pretty high...i would move the upper shock mounts farther up... the links look too steep to give very good flex...plus with it that high seems like it would be prone to roll... Mine sits a little lower than that with an 11" wheelbase and its seems to high on hill climbs... of course we climb vertical rocks |
