Default Newbie w/ Goliath :)

Hi All,
I used to be big into 1/10 scale 4wd elec buggy/1/10stadium truck racing (gas & elec). I sold every bit of my RC goods (5 vehicles and crap tons of parts) 3 years back to prepare for the obamanation and buy guns...LOL!
So one of my buddy's dropped by a truck he wasn't using and everything to get it going. I've had to drop the body quite a bit, do the rear diff shim and plate w/ aluminum, and throw in a new esc (cheapo xl-5 - which I didn't know didn't have a drag brake!!). Wow crawlers are fun!!! I can't beleive this thing. Are the Axial's really this flexy? I wish this thing was longer, but couldn't imagine any more articulation. My buddy previously did the gear reduction box. It currently has a 55t motor, and seems as slow as possible.

You can get a pti extension for it if you want it longer...

wow, a stocker... you will learn that too much articulation is a bad thing. 1 of the first upgrades you will want to do is to remove the cants. There is only 1 chassis on the market designed specifically for the PTI ( the iA) but it makes the truck way more of a comp rig than it currently is. I would also recoomend looking into the steel gears, they are a bit pricey but worth it.

I was wanting an extension until I found the price. I was thinking I would build my own, but not sure if I want to open up that can of worms just yet.

I have never heard too much articulation is bad? Really? In real world scale, the more the better (along with other variables of course).
Yea - I have to find the link to the parts list to ditch the canti.
I found it once, and couldn't find it again
And yea - I almost bought the steel gears, but not sure if I want to dump money into this, or just buy a new losi or axial

even in 1:1 too much is not too good. There becomes a point where it just gets unstable. Low and stable with the right amount of articulation will roll over allot less than a rig with crazy amounts of articulation.

Well of course too much articulation without the proper ride heigt/spring rate/limiting straps/bumps/extended DL's/ect.ect is bad. You just have to build it right.
Can't say I've ever met anyone that has stated they scored too high on a RTI ramp. I do understand what you're saying though, and the COG is a big part of that.

Well, I'm off to check out the tips/tricks on these things.

If you dont like the price of the extension kit buy the iA chassis from jetboat and make your own links out of brake line so you have 12.5 wheel base.

Any links to the iA chassis? I googled it and couldn't find anything. (searched on this board as well).
Tried out the krawlers/flat irons today....I had to snatch some up since I have the Km2's on my tacoma.....they seem to run a little skinny 2.2 wise.I love the look though...:-P..

I recommend delrin for the links over brakeline (even though I have always been an avid brakeline user)

lol....Thanks! Is it weird that I look forward to coming home daily to play with this thing? LOL....I'm almost 30 years old....LOL....
I just posted in the newbie forum about upgrading to a different crawler. I was thinking of going with a different chassis, and swapping to the 4-link, but now I keep busting axles/dog bones, spur gears, and have bailing wire holding in the lower shock links..LOL....This thing has been beat daily since before I started posting on here.

When I get back to work I plan on getting the metal gears and using the axles from my PTI on a Nikko TJ scaler.
