i would say it depends on what you are wanting to do, what kind of rig you are doing, and/or how scale you want it to look. .. .

When it stops looking scale. You don't see leafed trucks articulating 90*. If I was comping a scaler, I wouldn't mind having more that what I need. Check this out.

Well on a tcs xtrail, with 2.2's, axial axles, axial trans, true 4-link, toyota body half cab with rollcage as a bed, 7 cell mounted in front on frame. and a half droop

I have not built the truck yet, but am looking for an approx.

Default The easy way

Just look at the rig, and ask yourself does this look realistic? If it doesn't then its to much articulation.

One tire height that is equal to the tire size used on said "scale" rig. IMO, a 2.2 tire looks silly, non-scale, when under the Tamiya Toyota body.

i get about 3" of flex out of my leafed scaler. it is just enough that the tires tuck and rub on my k5 body to make that cool scale sound. lol.

Exactly, one tire height, give or take a little is a good standard esp for 4-link. maybe not so much for leafs without some sort of special shackle.

1 tire height is a pretty good rule of thumb though I prefer mine with slightly less than that.

If you look around the scale section you'll see trucks that have a perfect amount of flex that really adds to the overall scale look of things, and others that have more than most comp trucks that just look weird.

Ya thats a little overkill there on the articulation, If i recall Wpac uses a RTI ramp so all scalers are legal, and I'm pretty sure its no where close to the pic above.
