Question MOA guys---axle choice.
 

SO I have spent some time reading and alot of what I found is older (like 3-4 months). With the changing market and products available I figured I would start a new thread.. First off--I am in no way bored with my tlt shafty--but I enjoy being competitive and after having some seat time with an MOA---I think I can go farther than I can now with a shafty.

So enough rambling---to the meat of the question.

I am looking for the pros/cons of the HR,Bully,Berg axles.

I was in the same shoes as you... And finally decided to jump on the MOA bandwagon... had a few clods... But for a 2.2 rig, i think they are too bulky... So... I sold all the clod stuff, did a bunch or looking and reading...And bought a set of Bully's. As of now, the V4 Bully's are prob the strongest MOA on the market (stock) But thats my $.02...

Edit:... Not to mention the price, $160, gets you a pair of awesome axles...

So far I am leaning torwards the bully from what I have read.

bergs are nice and beefy but need CVDs, the stub axles need to be replaced with axial ones and they need specific wheels. bullies are cheap and beefy but need better CVDs, they've been plagued with CVD problems since day one. HR axles are nice, they're inner axle shafts are a definite weak point, most guys use berg inners that they've cut and filed down to fit. bullies and HRs are the same width as an ax10 so wheels are not a problem.

I went with HRs mostly so I wouldn't have to get new wheels and alot of the local guys are running them. I like that they are narrow and light (the whole rig is at 5.5 lbs). But, about everything needs to be replaced. The screws are junk (replace them all before they strip out), as are the lockers (use berg), axles (cut bergs or the HD HRs are also holding up), stubs (go axial), hexes (go axial) and cheap metal they build them out of (be very careful not to strip threads). Bergs are heavier and wider, so the need offset wheels and not all knuckles will work, but alittle better quality. They still take some work to hold up. THe bullys are just too big and heavy for me and there is less support for them but may be a good choice for a basher.

Wow I guess you learn something everyday, I didn't know that bullies are the same width as axials, NICE!
