Default what about only having rear steer?

Do you think it would be worth a shot to move my front springs to the rear and rear to the front rotate the body and reverse my radio and have only rear steer? My thoughts are that fork lifts turn way sharper like this. and norm 1:1 size dont do this due to un safe high speeds but my crawler is only set up to go way slow.
What do you think???

I think you would have to take some really weird lines through the rocks. But hey give it a shot. If u don't like it it will be easy to change back.

I can see a differnce in lenght of a forlift (short whellbase tight turn) compared to your crawler (longer whellbase big ark) making it not so friendly ,,,but I see your logic. Not to mention the fact that a FL is on flat ground and is not navigating the most insaine lines imaginable like a crawler does,,,,sorta the apple and orange thing ,,crawling is not ALL about how sharp you can turn but try it and let us know,,,hell maybe we been doing it bak-aswords all this time!!!!

No... most Forklifts have the steer axle at the rear because of the lift mechanism... and the weight factor... To have a steer axle that can handle the weight of a straight axle... It would have to be bigger than having it on the rear...

the reason forklifts turn so sharp... has a little to do with wheelbase. But alot to do with the fact that the wheels pivot approx 75*...thats what makes them turn so sharp...

I really dont see how this would help on a crawler... And especially if you try to comp with it... I dont know if it would be legal.. or or considered as rear steer...

2.3.4 - Vehicles are limited to 2-wheel steering only.

Strait from the rules, does not say which 2 can steer. I think I may try it. With AX10 RTC it will be easy just turn body around and reverse channel on TX. I already like the way the stock ESC works better when reversing.

Try it and lets see.

I don't think I would like rear steer only.

fork lifts also do not have locked axles and individual right and left brakes on the front driven axle to aid in that tight steering. check those rules again for comps I think you may have an older set.

you wouldn't be able to lead into your turns and the back end would swing around way too much.

Well I tryed it and did not like it. It was very difficult to pick and hokd a line. If you got used to it maybe but I will stick with front steer.

As soon as I saw this, I thought of trying to push the shopping trolley (cart) backwards to let my boys ride at the front ... it's hard as a bastard, and forces you to swing around really wide to get the front pointed where you want it sometimes.

but what if you had rear dig and locked the frt and turned the wheel and digged the rear around to get the line you wanted??? just a thought... it would be a big pain in the but though... good thinking though...

Did you change the stuff around like you mentioned?

Really, was it any different than just driving backwards?
