| Stampede crawler?
I keep thinking a dual motor Stampede using two rear chassis setups (dual trans/motors), and making the chassis pivot in some way to give articulation ... without spending a lot ...

... don't get me wrong - this would just be for a fun crawler/trail rig = no comps.

I have had a 4wd Pede Basher, it was fun. Unless your time is of no value to you, just buy a used AX10.

My 'pede is a fun basher with non-stop wheelies, but a crawler it is not. There are a couple of guys on the Traxxas forums that have made a 4wd 'pede, cool project, but the engineering will drive you nuts (unless you are into that kind of thing). The 'pede would be lousy as an independant suspension crawler, the arms do well at high speeds, but are just to short to do any good on the rocks. The only other option is to make it articulate right behind the front end, then you'll have to relocate the steering servo (back to the engineering thing). One other problem is where the battery is mounted, tooo high. Now that I have done all I can to crush your spirit, if you have the time and money put one together and post it as a build thread, we'd love to see what you come up with, in other words, prove us wrong... |

I have two old 'pede trannys and thought it might work, but don't want to start on something overly difficult or end up in a 'money pit'. Yes, my 'gears' seem to 'keep turning' to come up with the next mod or project. 'Anyone interested in a home-made Stampede chassis extension? ... Yours! for only $49.95 plus shipping and handling - TODAY ONLY!!!' |

| pede crawler
I think thatwould be a cool trail basher .I love the idea. You can put a hinge in the middle of the chassis with shock mounts on either side to make it articulate kind of like a catepillar loader pivots in the middle. I have an idea on how to do it ,but it's hard to explain what I'm talkin about. I think it would be awesome. I think I will make a clod based centipede crawler articulated in the middle like that since you put the idea in my head. Thanks. Bob

Keep the pede as is. Not worth it. You'll miss the speed and want to run it later.
