Default The Class 1 discussion thread

After some serious discussion with some here and on my board we thought going back to basics would make it more affordable and fun for the average joe. This is not to replace the existing "unlimited" 2.2 class but something a little more affordable in times like this. I loved 4 wheel steering when it was allowed so I threw it back in.

I hope to see this adopted by some other clubs and hear the feedback.

--The Nostalgia Class--
-Shafty only
-single motor, no limit on motor type (cobalt puller, brushed lathe, brushless, etc...)
-chassis or link mounted battery
-2s lipo/8cell NiMh maximum allowed
-2.2 wheels
-Max rig weight of 5 lbs
-12.5 WB
-no dig allowed

Edited*** Dropped from 3s to 2S, 4 wheels steering removed ***

Do you have to run Moabs or Mashers as well?

That would be cool.

It'd be cool to see a no tyre over 5" tall rule.

As long as I don't have to use a Pede tranny, I'm good.

I think tire's should be left unlimited...

Make's tire & foam tuning vital. Personally i'd like to see a motor "Limit", we've all used wheelspeed to make it up shit we cant crawl... And back to tires, could include a rule as to if you tech with thus said set of tires, you must compete throughout the day with that set.

Just a thought.

Sounds like all my shafty trucks, so I'm in.

4WS is lame. Go back to before dig. 2WS.

Chassis requirements to fit a nostalgic time period or no?

Limiting the motor specs would be a nightmare but brushed only might be good?

Sounds like fun but I am not sure how much less that class would cost. True, you are not buying a dig but the second $100.00+ servo and the 3 channel radio for 4WS offsets that. Also, opening it up to any motor and 3s lipo, you will be seeing some seriously high HP rigs.

True old school class would be a 2.2 version of the 1.9 class...

1. 2 channel radio
2. shafty
3. no dig/disconnect
4. single brushed 35 to 65 turn motors
5. 135oz max front servo
6. 2s lipo or 7 cell NiMH
7. no beadlocks
8. no wheel weights
9. spec tires (Mashers and Moabs)
10. 4 link suspension
11. chassis or link mounted battery

That pretty much looks like what most of the original 2.2's looked like back in '04-'05.

Might as well make it a TQ3 and HiTec 645 spec.

We didn't have an ESC with drag brakes either. Super Rooster spec!

I like that set up. I would make the servo spec to a 150oz max though. There is a nice airtronics servo for like $30 that has 144oz.

I also dont like the 4ws idea.
