| Is my servo not strong enough for my DNA dig?
I was hoping to prove people wrong and get by using the Hitec 225mg servo with my dna dig. But I'm starting to see why people use a full size servo (I think). I currently have the end points set pretty good imo. Any more and the servo starts to chatter. Whats happening is when I get up to a rock face, it seem like the tourque is pushing the servo out some and making my truck go to free wheel mode. If I press the dig switch again it seems to lock back up, only to back off after trying the same obstable again. |

Do you have an external BEC installed?

Yes, I have a castle bec set at 6v. I'm running a Dx3r with a Sr3500 receiver and tekin combo. I'm still pretty new to the electronics side of things, how would a BEC affect this setup? Thanks! |

Try to throw in a full size servo and see what that does for ya, i think the servo may just be too weak? |

How old is the dig? If it is one of the older ones with the aluminum internals, they could be wore to the point that they are slipping. Mine was doing the same thing before I rebuild the dig with the new steel parts. |

That could be it. The dig is pretty new. Only has 3 runs on it for a short amount of time, but I do know I have the aluminum interals. I should probably tear it down just to check. | |

I was running a HS-311 full size servo that only has like 40 oz of torque. It wasn't enough for my Hot Racing dig. I switched it out for a Towerpro with 200 oz of torque and it was a night and day difference. Definitely worth upgrading the servo! |

i run a hitech 225MG on my OG VF(now DNA) dig with the original aluminum internals. no issues. is your servo mounted to the dig/tranny, or the chassis? ideally, keep it on the tranny so there's no issues when the chassis flexes. If i was to do it over again, i'd throw a full size hi torque servo at it though, just for peace of mind. |

I had similiar happening with my dig going to freewheel when on steep climbs. My problem was due to a bad battery. When the motor would try to start, the receiver would go into failsafe, centering the dig servo.

i have been using the mini servo in my vf for a year now with no issues. my driver cog internals were twice as bad as the one pictured above! that was making mine skip outta gear too ,till i replaced them with the new steel stuff, no issues now |

That chassis flex you mentioned is probably your problem seeing as how you have it (servo) mounted to the chassis. If you have your dig set-up correctly and not running some weird angle on your link the 225 should do fine. I ran my dig for right at a year with the original servo that I installed on it.

Sounds good. I'll try redesigning my servo mount and if that doesn't solve it I'll try pulling it all apart. But it is in high tourque situations my rear wheels stop pushing.
