Crawler classification

Hello guys, I building database for rc.
I confused with crawler class, not like other rc car class like example buggy, that have clear line on scale or drive system.

As far I can figure out now, there is scale 1.9 and 2.2, also there is super class and competition crawler, what the difference between them all?
Actually how many class on crawler?
Isn't that 1.9 and 2.2 just based on rim size?
How about just example, if I have mini lst(1/18) and if I could put it with 2.2 rim, would this make the mini-lst get in 2.2 class?

Sorry for this newbie question...

There are only 3 classes of crawlers....1.9 2.2 Super
1.9 and 2.2 are classified according to the size of the wheels.
  • 1.9 - Vehicle wheelbase is limited to a maximum of 8.5 inches. Vehicle track width is limited to a maximum of 8 inches. Vehicle is limited to 1.9 inch wheels/rims or smaller at the bead surface. Vehicles are limited to 2-wheel steering on front axle only.
  • 2.2 - Vehicle wheelbase is limited to a maximum of 12.5 inches. Vehicle track width is limited to a maximum of 12.5 inches. Vehicle is limited to 2.2 inch wheels/rims or smaller at the bead surface. Wheels may be
modified provided that the tire bead surface does not exceed 2.2 inches in diameter. Vehicles are limited to 2-wheel steering only.
  • Super - Vehicle wheelbase is limited to a minimum of 16 inches and a maximum of 18 inches. No limits on tire type or size. No limits to steering configuration

Scale 1.9 and 2.2 have the save rules regarding wheels size but usually have no limitations on WB or track width. The body just has to look "scale" in relation to the running gear.

Thanks guys, thats clear enough. I leave the scaler and competition.
So what I have now is:
1.9 crawler
2.2 crawler
Super crawler

Btw currently in the market, is there a manufacturer selling a super crawler?
How about Axial's SCX10, in which class it should belong?

poorboyrc77 08-10-2009 12:25 PM

I think Integy and Rc4wd make supers. You could classify the Traxxas Summit as a super also.

The SCX10 as it comes in the box would be classified as a 1.9 scale truck.

Scale rules tend to vary club to club, but the most widely adopted rules are those of the scale nationals found here:

The Redcat Rockslide is also a Super...

I have an xtm x-crawler for a super and its decent, but requires some work to get it going without breaking but imo much better than the red cat racing and integy super crawlers

Thats the List

1. 1.9 Comp Rigs
2. 1.9 Scale Rigs
3. 2.2 Comp Rigs
4. 2.2 Scale Rigs
5. Super Class Rigs ( The Big Boys )

Hopefully that helps."thumbsup"
