LOL those things are great but they run out fairly quick... ive never checked how much pressure they hold, but im sure it cant be too much... plus they are fairly bulky... Well i went and read up on those variable SPEED valves... all it says it variable SPEED ... it doesnt say anything about stopping the cylinder in any position u want... so i dont know if this would be an equivilent to proportional steering.... | |

Whats the point in all this if you have to run a HUGE tank in order to run it for more than a few turns? A show truck I guess? |

you could try using a CO2 tank from a paintball gun those last for a while, but you'd have to find one small enough.

Why not just run 100 feet of 3/8 air hose to a 80 gallon 3 phase rotary compressor? I guarantee you won't run out of air then. The hose hanging out the back may cause truck to flip over though.

This is an interesting thread, but is your goal functional steering or the WOW factor? I've been looking for a worm drive servo to use on my crawler. No it's not fast but neither is my crawler. But it would turn any size of tire. Anyone seen a worn drive servo in a reasonable size? Oh, sorry for the hi-jack. 'Pony |

i saw CO2 cylinders suggested twice. whats the verdict on those? i know my my 20 lb CO2 tank on my 1:1 crawler lasts FOREVER, and i fill 38" tires almost every trip out.

i found a CO2 tank for a paintball gun in both 9oz and 14oz, they don't seem that big and atleast 400shots so it should last for a little while at least

have you ever seen pneumatic landing gear work, the ones ive seen are like bam, all the way out and quick. not really what you would want as a steering.

Regardless, the tanks don't have a large enough volume of air to run the system for any length of time.
