Default Has David Taken Down the Goliath

I don't have a PTI Goliath, but I like to read about every type off crawler. I've notice that there isn't that much traffic in this section about the Goliath. My question would be " Why very little intrest in this Rig "?

Better rigs available and there is very little vendor support.

Two Words:

"Plastic Gears"

Mike Poulson made some nice metal ring/pinions for his axles which also work in the PTI axles. But it was too little, too late. PTI was quicker to get an outta-the-box crawler to market, but like Dez said, others came along and did it better and on a larger scale. PTI was not a company that was big enough to compete with the likes of Axial or HPI.

I still have mine. I've even got the upgraded CVD shafts. Which, I might add, have never broke, unlike the *cough* Losi *cough* or *cough* CKRC's *cough*

Gonna go into a Scaler build this winter I think...

I hope to have a comp rig built with pti axles this winter. It probably wont take place of my axial, but I can see alot of potential.

I really thought that with the metal gears available, we would see more of them come out of the woodwork.

We will see.

Those prices are cool, but will they draw enough people in to bring back the Goliath is the question. Only time will tell.:?

It has to die by nature of the business. My 2 cents.

The stuff is just outdated, it's like from 1980 sold in 2009. And the MMT is and ever was a bad answer to the Tamiya's TLT. The quality is poor, and in 3 Kits i got missing parts. Sorry but... BYE!

Is PTI still in business? I haven't heard anything from them in a while.

Actually the TLT was Tamiya's answer to the MMT. The MMT was out first, but Tamiya had better marketing, better parts and parts support. PTI just didn't have the marketing or money to make a better product unfortunately. They tried though... Gotta give em that.

As far as I know, PTI is no longer producing their stuff. They are focusing more on producing bodies and small metal parts for other companies and just selling what stock they have left of the MMT and Goliath. I know they had metal gears that they never released, maybe Mike Poulson bought out PTI's metal gear inventory at a good price? I know the gears PTI had were made by the same people that makes RCP's gears. So they were good.
