Default C clamps on shock pistion help

So im having a hell of a time getting the C clamps onto the top of the pistion in the shocks I got the buttom one one but I just cant get the top one to clamp on after i put the pistion ring on it keeps flying across the room. Was just wondering if anyone had any tips to make it easyer.

its called an e-clip usually a small flat bladed screwdriver turned sideways will help with pushing it on you can even make a little notch on the tip so it will hold the clip better when pushing

there was a company called crp back in the day that took those small screwdrivers that mechanics kept in the pencil pockets and they cut the notch and then sold them with their name on it. i won one at a raffle one time and still have it 20 yrs later

put your fingers on the sides of the piston and the e-clip holding them kinda then squeeze it on with a pair of needle nose pliers.

if you cant get the piston down far enough then try looking for burrs that wont let it seat.
