the stock batteries dont last too long, they are 600 mah. i just switched mine over to rc18t electronics with an 1100 mah battery and get excellent runtimes. not sure if you can use an 1100 with the stock electronics or not. i switched mine to a high torque servo so i had to do the switch anyways. i might have a couple xtra batteries that i wont need. i'll let you know. cam.

Default longest run time ever!

I was a WM looking for a scorpion, ( i have a jeep) and found some discontinued TYCO 7.2v battery packs and chargers for $3, yes, $3 !! they are made of C-cell size batteries arranged end to end in 2 stacks of 3. I turned it on its side and used the Dremel to cut the "transmission tunnel" and center of the dash out. i put velcro on the bottom of the battery just to keep it from rattling, the body holds it in very well. Anyway, after a full charge it will run for about AN HOUR AND A HALF. I actually got tired of playing with it before the battery died! that is a first for r/c 's I went back and bought 2 more of the TYCO packs and chargers.

Run time mabey about 30-45 min. I'm not sure on stock electronics. I made my own pack out of rechargeable ni-mh. They say 2500 mah. I havent got a chance to test them fully but they do work.

TBItoy: How is the performance with those. They have to be hella heavy. Does it have a super high center of gravity and flip easy?

No not that i notice it. I did a belly up as far as i could without remounting the suspension. And then lowered it till i have about 3/8 inch compression left in the springs. i will charge up the stock battery and put it under the dash (I modified so it would fit too) and see if it makes a drastic difference. Oh, i ran it last night for 2.5 hours!! It seems to be getting longer run times with more cycles.

Default From the manual 6 cell x 650 mah nicad

Normal operating current 3.8 amps
Normal operating duration 25 minutes

I am doing preliminary testing now and will update with AAA batts also on my findings. My stock battery is usually over 650 mah and works well.

Last run with my stocker, crawling over random stuff inside the house, I got 17 minutes before it started to slow down, and 2 more minutes until it stopped working completely. So that's 19 minutes. This was run in low gear the whole time.

Wow...with the stock battery? how the heck do you do that? I charge mine with my Superbrain 959 charger that I use on all other rc batts, at a charge rate of .5 amps (anything higher and it false peaks)

Default stock runtime

I just got thru climbing in the house, low gear only and got 35 minutes. No stopping other than to flip it over. I am chargeing a 7 cell 700 mah pack of AAA right now.

Really??? I use the same charger @ 1amp with the normal 5mv per cell threshold and I never false peak. I get at least 30min+, after that I get bored so I don't know how much longer it would go.

I've been chargeing at .5 - 1 amp and getting around 750-800 input, haven't discharged test (just in the truck) If I used 600 mah and 35 minutes it was a average discharge of around 1 amp. Did I figure that right?

OK..I just charged it again, .5mv, 1.0amp, and it took 4 minutes start to finish. Is it fully charged? Or did it false peak? The battery pack is still cold to the touch, not even warm.

Nope...that diddnt work. Only lasted 5 minutes on that charge.

I usually have to restart the charger twice to get a full charge.

1 amp should take around 40 minutes to deliver 650 mah.

Default 7 cell x 700 mah

stock pack weighs 112 g
7 x 700 AAA weigh 106 g

I just tested the run-time on the first charge and found a bad cell, it ran 21 minutes and all the other cells had around 100 mah left. I just made a new pack, put a chargeing jack on the truck cuz I am tired of unplugging batteries and taking off the batt door.

So far, I have only run the stock pack, charged with the stock charger. I charge it for 5 hours , and that gets me around an hour or so, depending on how hard I crawl.

second run with 7 AAA was around 17 minutes, all low gear and constant climbing and crawling. I found out too that my cells are only around 500 mah (they are supposed to be 700)

650 mah at 3.8 amps is 10 minutes right?
