| Finally did a tummy tuck (finished) The edges are a bit jagged but I'll take care of it later. I remounted/ghetto fabbed (rubber banded the battery just infront of the dash and snapped the plug in between the link bolt and the body (fits perfectly). Ya dont even have to take the body off to get to the battery to recharge it now. I gained about 1 1/4" ground clearance but had to stop cutting because the thin cutting disk I was using got hot and flew apart . Anyway, you can see how much I actually gained because I threw in a 2 3/4" 12ga shell for comparison. Yes I am a cheap *** redneck Last edited by TJ_Krawler; 12-12-2005 at 09:19 AM. |

Are you going to make it flat all the way across, seems like that wouldn't be that much more work now that you've already moved the battery and changed your links.

Yeah Im gonna cut the rest of the battery box off when I get some more cut off disks because I broke my last one. I can get 2-5 of'em for like $2 or $3 at work...atleast thats what I think they cost?

what are the cutting disks for? a dremel? If so you can get 36 in a 52 piece multi purpose set with a bunch of other goodies (fiber cutting wheel, sanding drums etc...) for about $11.

instead of cutoff disks, use the little stone grinder cylinders, they just melt the plastic and don't wear down at all. After the plastic cools, just pull it off and grind it smooth.

Cutting disk on a medium/fast speed will do it much quicker though.

Ok was gonna post pics of the finished product but my cousin has my digi cam so god knows when I'll get them up. Basically I have cut ALL of the battery box up to about 1/8" from the bottom of the link screws. |
