Default Cons of moa?

I can't seem to think of any cons to an moa vs a shafty, other than it is probably more expensive and possibly heavier. I can think of cons for shafty such as weight in center instead of over axle, torque twist, dig is more difficult, ect. But I can't seem to think of any about moa what am I missing?

Agreed, it can be helpful, but there are situations where it is a hinderance. Almighty, there is a difference between motor stall that happens sometimes and different ratios that are constant...

Examples of what? When rear motor stall is a hinderance? When your front tires don't have enough traction or they aren't over the ledge, yet most of the weight is on the rear axle and the rear motor is stalled.

BTW, I agree, there are times when I like that the rear motor is turning slower (in fact, I have a lower tooth pinion on the rear motor of my Bully), however, I have had experiences when a shafty driven RC would have performed better...

Yeah man, motor stall and different axle gear ratios are different.

Best aspect of a shafty is full time 4 wheel drive. There's times when power to all four wheels equally can just pull a truck through a spot.

Its totally a different story when you motor stall in a particular obstacle and not.. Its a plus when you need it but when times that you dont need it, its the other way around.

That is true! I was just going on the observation that most folks don't run the setup you mentioned.

BTW, I've thought of another time when having a MOA is a hinderance.....when you are building a scaler!

The worst is front motor stall! My Bully occasionally suffers from it and it's never a good thing! At least with a shafty if you want to dig you dig other than that true 4 wheel drive is a good thing!

Ditto, embrace the stall.

Con to MOA? Oh there's, no wait that's not a bad thing. But than there's, no no that's good too. Uh, ummmm, I guess MOA is bad if you don't like winning.

I would agree with that. I can throw a truck together in 30 minutes, and that's with having to build a few custom parts....4 hours to wire it though.

Does your rear motor NOT stall? If so,adjust your gear mesh....looser in the front, tighter in the rear will help. Use bigger wire for the front motor, smaller wire for the rear....that helps a little
