What's the best dye for delrin? Any links on where to buy it? What's the best procedure?

| http://www.machinist-materials.com/c...r_plastics.htm Delrin is a bit different than nylon. Check out its H2O absorbtivity. I would put it in RIT dye, with salt, and boil it. Delrin is more chemically resistant than nylon. If you can find the color of RIT dye you want in liquid concentrate, get that. |

I guess it's worth a shot, it's only a drag link anyway. Just looks dumb being white so I thought I might dye it.

What I have done to dye delrin . First I put 2 or 3 boxes of dye in about a gallon of water . Then I add 2 tablespoons of salt . I bring the water to a boil for about 10 mins . Then place the parts in the water . Leave the water boiling if you need to add some water do so to keep the parts covered . Use a large spoon or something to flip the parts and move them around . I keep the water boiling for 45mins then turn it off . I then keep moving the parts around every 10 mins. or so for another hour . This should take you about 2 hours or so . Then when you take the parts out run cold water over them . You will see alot of Dye coming off . Don't worry this will take some time to wash off . Oh yes if you have a clean bucket (with lid) you can save the water and use it again . |

I have done this many times, The longer you keep it in the boiling water and keep moving it the darker the color gets |

if this helps, from what ive read about dying fabric type materials you must add a certain amount of green with the black, to make a dark even black color.
