Default opinions on the rc4wd copperhead?

I am really debating between the copperhead, ax 10 or venom creeper. I love the look of the tube chassis and thats what i really want. Ive watched a couple vids on you tube and it looks like they dont have much steering. Is the turning radius alot bigger making dig essential or is it that it was setup wrong. This will be my first crawler and i want lots of tunabilty and articulation.

any help is greatly appreciated

thanks in advance
Dustin

ax10 ax10 ax10 ax10 You will love the tunability & you can get about as much articulation as you want. AX10 can get a pretty tight turning radius with the right mods.

Default Ax10

Go with the AX10, because it has a ton of support out there. Factory, Aftermarket, and Custom made parts to make the AX10 even better than what it already is. Make the right choice, and pick yourself up a AX10 Rig.

I have a Losi and it's great, out of the 3 you listed I'd go with an Axial, but truthfully out of everything if you got the budget go bully or berg.

ax-10! I have a tuber and it's not my style too heavy on top... I think it's more a scale style

Out of the 3 you listed, id buy the creeper. @ $129 its VERY hard to beat. My bro has one with Rovers and his own homemade stage 2 kit and it can do 90% of the lines my MoA LCC can.
Just a few cheap mods and they are very capable. Buy the AX 10 if you wanna dump $500+ to make it compable. Or you can spend less than $300 and get a compable rig

MRC all the way. It's your first so get something small so you can enjoy all the time, in out outside. Great crawler out ot the box and 2.4 radio. With the free mods it makes it just that much more and has great support.
But what do I know, I'm a newbie too..

I'm more of a build it myself type, but considering the money you're already considering spending (the Venom is the only one that's really budget minded once you consider the necessary upgrades for the AX10), I would get the RC4wd Bully kit. It's only $50 more than the Copperhead, but adds some really nice features. It's a good chassis, which with some tuning can become very capable, it comes with aluminum beadlock wheels, and X-Lock tires (very nice tire!!!).

The other option that I'd look into...actually, the way I'd probably go is with JP Customs Hellstrom Bully setup. http://www.jpcustomrcs.com/catalog/i...89/7195147.htm
It's currently on sale for $389.

Are you looking for a comp rig? If so, the Axial has a ton of aftermarket support, but will cost you a ton of money to get it worthy.

If you're looking for something to play around with, why not get the Venom? Out of the box, it's far more capable than the Axial, plus they just released the dig unit for it, so you could play, and get something that you could comp with...at least until you want to spend some bigger money.

Yea I want a comp worthy rig, even though im just getting into this side of rc. I will start slow and work my way up but i like to start with nice stuff. If im going to spend the money anyway I might as well start with the right parts rather then having a box of stock parts that'll never get used. Im really leaning towards the bully. I like the chassis and MOA seems to be really popular. Thanks again guys Im sure you get this kind of thread here all the time.

Well now that you have added other Crawlers to your list. I say go with the Berg. Thats the one on top of the Competition Game right now.:?

Bumping a thread.

So does anyone have first hand experience with a Copperhead? As in, own one, have a buddy with one, tried one out, etc?

I am looking for an opinion on them as well, but not a statement such as "Buy an AX-10".

I did search and looked for a crawler that was decent out of the box. I understand there are 100's of upgrades for the AX-10, but wanted something different.
