| 1:18 The REAL fix for clicking axles
If your nylints axles are slipping and clicking this is the problem. Shimming the planetary box with washers is a bandaid for the problem and also puts more stress on the small plastic holder. This trick will fix your problems and not break the case supports. Your planetary is made of sections...the top section is either orange or yellow and is made of two parts. on the left are two parts and on the center part you can see that the metal has slipped on the plastic and left a circular indention...the end all do all solution to this axle slipping problem is to glue the gear to the metal piece...like on the left. This will solve all of your problems with gears slipping...when you thought that the gears were slipping before it was actually the metal piece slipping on teh plastic of the internal planetary. |

| The perfect fix!
I just ripped all the tape and washers out of my axle! I glued it like you said, used a little CA and put everything back together. Perfect, works great. I did it on my big one with Moab's, I really got it stuck and the axles just stall. I'm definitely going to do my little one next. Having no tape or washers in there is great. Thanks Skerb for the perfect fix! :-P |

my slipping was caused by the whole gearbox shifting when the little tab on the end broke off.

if you glue that parts i mentioned together it should help with your slipping problems when used in conjunction with your tape.

I just pulled off my gearbox, and looked where you said, and the metal plate was not slipping over the plastic part. Any other ideas? http://evo101.com/images/nylint.jpg Im not exactly sure what ear you guys are talking about either.... EDIT: I think i might have figured out my problem. The bottom white piece that the motor is inside isnt attached to the motor at all, its just loose. I can rotate the motor body all the way around and pull it out also. Is that how it is supposed to be? Im assuming that it should be connected to the motor, but i want to make sure before I glue it. Last edited by Superjed; 12-15-2005 at 04:40 PM. |

That is kinda weird, you would think the motor should not be free to spin around inside the gearbox. Btw Skerb, This mod actually did not work for me after all. So, back went the tape and washers and now it is perfect again. Last edited by Lt. Dan; 12-16-2005 at 12:43 PM. | |

Yup, They're still glued. My problem is the gearbox moving around inside the axle housing. It causes the gears to slip.

I finally tried this on the rear axle and it works but is it supposed to make the rear tires spin slower than the front? The wheel speed isnt much different but you can tell there is a difference.
