Say.... have you guys ever wanted to make a scale build with a custom 4wd IFS and solid rear axle? I want to do this with maybe a rear yota or t-rex 60 from 4wd as my rear axle, how would i make the front diff for the truck? Is there another diff set that will work out or do i just buy the spool from rc4wd and make a custom diff case for the front? because if i do use the spool how will i add the drive cups?

The biggest issue would be matching the front and rear diff's gear ratios. But like Toyofast said, a CC-01 would fit the bill. You'd have to do some custom work to make the wheelbase work depending on which body you use.

Use a fwd buggyor tour car front. If the front end wasn't too much faster it would give you better turning, like everyones doing with the ax axles.

i would think you could find something to work for you in the nitro side of things. i know my tmaxx is ifs4wd. you could use the carier and custom fab up the shafts to fit. something to look at.

id stay away from touring car stuff, its generally small gears and most of the time plastic, this is to keep the drivetrain very efficient and light. stick to trucks or buggies, lots of stuff out there. t-maxx, savage, any 1/8 scale buggy, there are some 1/10 scale 4wd buggies that could work. the gear ratio is the savage is 3.30 (43/30 ring and pinion), the exact same ratio as the underdrive gear set from axial. the only downside is monster truck stuff is big, but you wont break it.

i could just buy a cc01 and put my own body on it but the thing is that it wont be as custom and that i am looking for something like 3.5 inch suspension arms. Is there a ring/pinion gear combo out there with a 2.5:1 gear ratio i like the t-rex 60, other wise i would go with the yota axle but it has a 2.53:1 ratio which is unlikeably to be seen. What is the gear ratio on a t-maxx diff? Last edited by rock_blazer; 11-04-2009 at 06:06 PM.

del monte, that is looking awesome! should be a lot of fun to drive rock_blazer, for a couple other diff/axle matches, try a mad/twin force axle paired with an 1/8 scale buggy diff. or for something a bit smaller, a wheely king axle with a nitro rs4 mt diff. Those are the best matches i can think of. Also the TLT and the ta-01 i believe are the same.

its a mini e-revo front end and an axial rear end, the ratios are like one tooth different, the front being slightly higher geared. i got to play with it a week or so ago now. its an awesome rig, its so stable through turns and jumping it made me ashamed of my tlt racer.

I love the idea of an IFS rock racer but till now have only seen them in 1/6 scale. Would be great to see some more pics or even a video. There's no tranny in the pic, what did he go with there?

Yup, saw that after I posted last night. Another awesome build along the same lines, especially the summit tranny and slash 4x4 frontend.

there was a guy a long time ago made a blackfoot body ford that was red and white with a ttb front axle to match the year of the truck. he used a tlt axle and made a couple of brackets. he posted it on here and on scale 4x4 rc so i would try doing a search for that truck to get some ideas
