We drove up to our next obstacle, a boulder almost half the size of our vehicle, shifted into low gear and planted our 39”* Mickey Thompson Baja Claws on the edge. And with a little blip of the throttle, the tires took a grip, the suspension flexed and in a couple of seconds, we were over the top and gliding down the boulder’s backside as easy as can be.
Moab you ask? No, as a matter of fact, we’re wheeling in our backyard. Not with our usual full size rig, but with Funrise Toy Corporation’s radio controlled Nylint Rock Crawler Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. This is a 1/6th scale R/C model that really rocks!
Now the young ones and adults can fight over who’s next to get behind the wheel of a pretty accomplished rock crawling vehicle and test their driving skills right at home or in Moab.

These vehicles come complete right out of the box except for the 9-volt battery needed for the radio control unit. All you need to do is charge up the rechargeable 12-volt vehicle battery using the included charging unit and you’re off to the boonies. The super grippy tires and super flexy coilover suspension work well together with the 2-speed drivetrain (high and low gears). The 1/6th scale size is perfect for tackling almost any good sized obstacle you come up against. The tires really work best on rocky terrain and not so well on loose dirt. In fact the manufacturer recommends that the vehicle not be used on wet surfaces, sand, snow and especially through water as these can damage the electric motors that are actually located in the two differentials. The radio controller has four band frequencies so you can compete with three other competitors at the same time.
Our extensive tests concluded that this vehicle definitely ranks high on the realism and fun-factor scales.
