I was going to do the whole pen extension after I get my other 1:18th parts truck next week but I like this set up more so I will be using it. Thanks for the great write up with pics. |

| Looks Good!!
I just went to the store and picked up the same materials you used. After getting the 2.2 completed I noticed the deffinate need for the W.B. extension and this looks to be the best looking and easiest remedy. Thanks for the tip!!

Man this thing rocks now, thanks ! I do have one request though, could you show us a close up of your links that are mounted above your axle ? You have got to love these Dirt Hawgs, I think that they are about the best for these little things (I wouldnt really call mine little anymore thanks to you). I just hope that my hot glue/ zip-stripped Nylint outer lasts long enough for me to test it at my buddys place .

That's weird, after I did mine the tubes are super close to the compartment but not really rubbing. The fall and articulate very well even under their own weight. Anything a little sanding or a small spacer will take care of? Looks like there might be some variances in compartment dimensions.

That is correct, axle droop is limited by shock extension.

I just upgraded the third link again to beef it up cause I bent it a few times. Seems like Putfile is not allowing any uploads right now. Give me a little bit and I'll post the pics as soon as it allows uploads again.

No pull apart, the 1:18th scales have a screw which hold the shocks together, the 1:6's don't. It doesn't have any increase in axle wrap from prior to this mod. With this three link design some axle wrap is always evident.

Here are some pics. of the rear axle. Items used: 2 sections of aluminum rod. Inner Section HS 5/16x.035 thickwall rod. UPC 614121130356. - This rod fits into the pivot holes at the axle and can be inserted (with a small bit of coaxing) into the hole at the cross link. - You'll need to cut this piece approx 1/2" - 3/4" longer than the Outer Section. - You'll need to cut approx 1/2 of the shaft from the the outer plastic cap to allow this rod to insert into the axle pivot hole. Outer section. Same rod I used for the side links at the beginning of this thread. - Needs to be cut so that it reaches link to axle with the inner section fully seated. 6/32 All thread and 2 nuts. - Should be cut long enough to protrude from the rear link and the rear axle with the inner section installed. ****Note***** The 6/32 allthread and nut will only work if you've extended the side links. If you have NOT extended the side links then you'll need to use 4/40 allthread and nuts as the 4/40 nuts will countersink into the rear link. ****Note***** Thread Lock Blue or Red - To lock the nuts if you did not use self locking aviation nuts. Have fun. www.putfile.com
