the upper links are gonna be tricky..the stock mounts are to low on the worm box IMHO....so I'm gonna drill and tap a new mount/s up closer to the top of the worm box..pics on that come soon....

could you use a spacer or somethong to move it up a lil bit?

it looks like the upper link mount is screwed down to the plate/box.

could you use a longer screw?

I think your looking at the wrong mounts....the upper link mounts are on the sides of the boxes...I will grab a pic right now..

there is room on top of the worm box to drill and tap it for more mounts...

Got her set-up as a roller....the axle clearance is amazing!!! and it's nice to not worry about link and shock clearance against the gear box....but I'm really gonna have to come up with something tricky for the steering...

I'm just rocking the all thread uppers until I can get a better idea of how long the uppers will be..then I will slap some Ti links on it..

there is room for more steering angle as well...just not sure the XVD's can handle/be modded though????

I drilled and tapped some 3mm holes ontop of the worm box for my upper links...doing this made room for the steering servo up front and made for better link geometry.

this is without the steering attached or a 3s lipo...but it's pretty damn light weight!!!

That thing turned out awsome!

Might look at a verticle servo on the side of the gearbox like the old clods did using those holes in the tubes and the stock upper link mounts to bolt the servo mount to.

How do you adjust the motor for different pinions? It looks fixed? Looking forward to see what you do about the steering!

thanks bud....great minds must think alike because that was the exact mount style I was thinking would work....the only problem I'm having is fitting the servo arm on the back side for a BTA...I got the room for all the links..but not the room for the servo horn throw......it may end up having just a OTA steering....I have kinda grown to like the look of NO links out front though so I really want to get the BTA....

the motor is adjustable..but you kinda doing it blind..I'm used to seeing inside the case when I set gear mesh(like the bullys)
but with these axles you can't see the mesh AND to make things more interesting you cant turn the wheels by hand because they are worm gears..lol

what I have found is it's easy to get a good baseline mesh when you have the axles apart to relube and loctight them...then you can fine tune from there if need be.

here is a shot of the motor mount system..

one adjustable(slotted holes) motor plate..then just bolt the motor and plate up to the worm box

got the steering all figured out....I did not want to mess with a BTA any more...the clearances are just to tight...I think it could be done with some more patience but I ran out for now..ha:-P

battery is just siting there on top...I still have to get the battery strap figured out....
I also added some internal springs up front so I can run the shocks in board of the link/shock mounts.

still trying to figured out a new Lid for it(I'm thinking rock pleaser) so in the mean time I re-folded my bug body to follow my angled skid plate.....looks pretty cool I think.

I ordered a 4s lipo for it...hope I dont smoke my FXR's:?

Wow, that thing is brutal. Looks like a stick under there with all that ground clearance.
