Different Antenna? Ok everyone know these have bad antenna's on the crawler itself. There just weak. Does it matter what replacement wire is used? Does it matter what the frequency band is? On my 1/18th Jeep I had on break and I just replaced it with a wire antenna of my Radio Shack Jeep and it seems to work perfect. |
I've been toying with an idea for mine... got to crawl w/ my father (god bless em lol) he laughed so hard playing with his crawler i got him, it was well worth it. anyway - I had an idea for making a tube inside my fab'd roll cage for my scorp (in process) so I could lock the antenna inside a tube, well within the roll cage its self, i actually had rolled mine, and got hung by the dammed antenna lol I'll put pics if i get this to work right |
I just want to know if I can just order any wire antenna from TowerHobbies or will just any thin wire work? (like from Low's) |
Can I use this http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXERH8&P=7to replace the one thats broke on mine? |
how the hell is everyone breaking antennas? i've rolled mine so many times on it. But than again i found the best way to protect it was just tucking it under the roll cage. I'd imagine you'd need the antenna wire |
I only have a partial cage, that pickup cab look, and I just bend the ant down and tuck it under the cage, i'm not crawling from 40ft away, and i've never had a problem. |
I read somewhere on this site where guys were using guitar strings, the thick coil wound ones. |
Why is everyone worried about the antenna? 90 percent of the driving is spent standing right over the things. You could cut the antenna even with the top of the cage without drastic effect or just bend the end of the antenna back down into the hole in the body. If its broke off completely any piece of music wire will do. |

When I'm out at my fire pit relaxing I need the thing to be able to cover the 150' back to the house so my wife can load four more beers into the roll bar. |

i just used a antenia from an old toy car i had and it worked great i now have a antenia that looks like a hobbie class antania |
Get a soft wire antenna and a plastic tube, works great. I use my jeep to drive from under my truck to the garage so my girlfriend can load them on and I dont have to crawl out from under it. oh ya and I have a horn on it too. |
