Default powering a winch

i posted this in another one of my threads, but i figured more people might see it if i post it in its own thread.

is the remote and reciever on these things technically a 3 channel? if so, could the third channel be modified for use as a winch? i just "built" (figured out how im going to do it, now i gotta pick up a sheet of metal to build the side plates...) a winch, i just need a way to power it.....i was thinking that maybe i could use the hi/lo switch, and use it to switch a relay that would send power to the motor of the winch........not i could be wrong and it wont work at all....in which case there will probably just be a 3 pole toggle switch on the truck somewhere.....

cool, you used the electronics out of a 1:18 didn't you?

im trying to work with what i have, which is the gears out of an old radioshack truck and a 540 motor (probably replace it with a 65t lathe motor, or rewind this one to a high turn)

god i hope they have a 1:6 at benton tomorrow.....

wonder if we are the only 2 adults with these around here...

now that i think about it, the gearing on mine might not be low enough to pull the 1:6....the 2 gears make a 5.5:1 gear ratio (8 tooth on motor, 44 tooth on pulley)

maybe it would be enough with a high torque motor. i THINK this motor is a 27t, but i could be wrong.

ok, im gonna quit messing with this stuff for tonight, i got a lot to do tomorrow (finish stripping a motorcycle down that i am parting out and then go get my baby)
