| Ok I have 2 chassis's. I use one for wheeling and one for parts. Well I moved the rear motor on the spare one and I liked it so much I'm doing to my Wheeler. Here is the pics. Alot simpler then I thought. All you need is extra wire and a clamp. And if you think it doesn't look strong. I picked up the whole chassis by just the motor. It isn't going anywhere. ![]() I started off at trying to put the motor in the back of the housing. Where the HI/Low motor is at. I still believe this could have been done, but with a lot of cutting. Didn't feel like cutting anymore. If you look where the belt comes through the axle the hole is a little big. Well this is by spare chassis. Who cares. Just practice. Anyway on my wheeler the hole will be a lot smaller. ![]() ![]() If poeple want more pics of how this is done. I can post some step by step pic's if needed. | It also helps with cooling of the engine. Mostly every other rc wheelin vehicle will have the motors outside as well. I like it. What does the clamp hold on to? pics?? |

I think I read in one of your post.. That you had did some lift..? How did you do that? putting the motor outboard isn't bad.. Just as long as you don`t drive through any kind of sand, or anything

Sounds like a good idea...maybe i'll try it on my spare chassis whenever my replacement comes. I do agree that the axles are HUGE and a PITA sometimes...

1st I got rid of the top shaft of the shock because it was not long enough 2nd I went and got a package of bic pens because they are they same size as the shocks almost and they are cheaper than buying long travel shocks then I went to home depot and got springs that were the same stiffness as the stock ones but 1 1/2 longer 3rd I cut the bic pens down to 4in and cut the pen cap in half to go over the top to act as a stop then I drilled 1/8 holes in the top of the pens and mounted my new shocks before all this I cut the body tabs and put limit straps on, I had to adjust them once I put my new shocks on..later I will have to get new rod for the bottom of the shock, it still needs to be like 1/2in longer it comes real close to comeing out sometimes and sometimes it does go here for all my pics http://photobucket.com/albums/d107/Toylxl2/?sc=1 I get 11 1/4 or so in of articulation after all my mods

Mines pretty similar to his except i used a stock front drivebelt in the rear, this allowed me to pull the motor right up against the pivot arm so it has a little more support and is out of the way of my body, check out my recent pic thread i posted some up in there

| Since I didn't get anymore pic's today I'll just tell ya step buy step. Step 1: Remove all screws and open rear axle up. Step 2: Remove the drive motor ( it's the one with the belt on it.) And cut the 2 wires. Give aleast 2-3 inchs of wire to work with. Step 3: Close the housing back up. Don't put the screws in yet. Step 4: Make a hole in the housing were you want the belt to come through. Step 5: Place the belt on the motor and place the motor where you want it. Step 6: Take a nail and make two marks about 1/2in long on the housing. One mark on each side of the motor. (long ways) Step 7: Now cut two slits where those marks where. Step 8: Run your clamp and mount the motor. Step 9: Cut the hump off the front of the axle. and cover it with something. (thin steel or plastic left over from a tummy tuck. Step 10: Replace all screws and test drive If you want it to be stonger just place a thin piece of steel on the inside between the clamp and the housing. That way If the motor tried to pull away it would have to rip the housing and the thin steel. I will get better pic's when I do it to my wheeler. You may have to buy a different belt. (O-ring) |

| ok, i might need some more pics, but how hard is it compared to a tt? I just did my tt yesterday, was very easy, and heard shaving the axle is essential. |

| if a TT is a 2 on a 1-10 scale... for Nylints the shave and motor move is a 7-8 |

| Does any one have a picture of where they made the cuts for the hose clamp? I am trying to do this and it seems that every where I want to make a cut either the high/low motor or gears are in the way. Also what size hose clamp are you running? Thanks |
