So I've been looking on this site for a while and seen all the cool rigs. Figured I'd try my hand at some tube work. I've never been good at brazing or even soldering, so I welded it. 3/16" solid rod and the cheapest of the cheap Lincoln 225 stick. Turned out ok but I hope to get better with time. Isn't true and square, but it's solid. 4-links and 2.2s on the nylint axles. Other than really crappy pics, what do you guys think? |

No, just finished up the chassis work today. Atleast I think I did. I had it mostly assembled today and tore it down to paint. I think it actually lost articulation, but it'll be low and the tires would hit the chassis anyway, more realistic that way too. I'll post pics soon as I get something to post.

I did it for 2 main reasons. 1 they're a really simple design, and 2 I have a friend who is/was building one, so I've seen one in person and worked on it.

Well, I may not get anymore done today and am low on materials, so I'll update now. I cut out all the panels from aluminum today, no cable clamps to mount them though. I've been messing around with the links and can't seem to get something I like. On the front, I have the link bracket so high, to accomodate the steering section, that it will interfere with where I want to mount the battery pack. I want to keep the pack in the nose section for forward weight bias. So I'm messing with that when a drill bit broke and took out my thumb, haha. So I came inside to take care of that. Oh yeah, I haven't decided on colors yet, any opinions? I was thinking a silver frame with metalic blue panels and sponsor decals of course. Would like to eventually get some of the Imex Boggers, so maybe a big Interco "TSL" bird emblem on the hood. Last edited by Jamus; 01-07-2006 at 01:08 PM. |
