Default "Air down?"

Ive got a 1:18 scorpion and i cant seem to get much grip out of the tires (because they suck) I am wondering if there is a way to "air them down". I know they dont actually hold air, so physically airing them down is impossible, but is there a way to soften them up so that they will conform to rocks better? Is cutting the tread my only option here? Thanks.

You may be able to soften the rubber up a little, but I don't think they will ever be able to be "aired down" due to the design of the tires. Take one of the wheels apart and you'll see. It's hard to explain without seeing for yourself. The tires aren't "hollow" like a normal tire.

does cutting and siping them really make that much difference in the grip they offer? Ive just been stuck tons of times just becasue the tires wont climb something because the contact patch is so small.

Then increase the pressure applied to that contact patch.

Put BBs in the tires.

(this will also help lower your CofG)

you can try traction compound. we use it on our dt oval cars to soften the tire up. trinity makes some called "death grip" and then theres paragon. the problem is these tires have some plastic in them so i dont know how well the traction compound will work. you can also spray on WD40 and let it sit. do this over a couple of days. i cut my tire and it doesnt soften them up but they do conform better to the shape of the terrian.

siping alone makes a big diffrence, I cut mine but haven't run the truck because of some electrical issues with my hobby grade electronics.

i both cut and siped the rear tires today. Havent done the fronts yet (no time, and havent decided a pattern yet). I havent had a chance to run it yet either. I did add a metal body to it though today which will add some weight, but hurt CofG a bit, so i might need bbs now.

would possibly drilling small holes in the tires cause them to collapse over and object more? When I cut my tires, i accdently cut into them and put small holes in them, it seemed to make them flex much better. Just a thought, no clue if it will make a diff.

Yes it does. I cut every other lug off my tires (the shorter ones) and it claws a heck of a lot harder than it did stock. I also turned the tires around so they face backwards.

Default BB's

Ive heard of putting bb's in the tires, already screwed up one truck trying to do it. Is there any special way to do it, pics?:?

How did you screw a truck up putting BB's in the tires? Pull the wheel apart, pull the tire open and put the BB's in.
