| Tube body legality
I am thinking about building a tube body for my night crawler and just bolting it on in place of a lexan body. I plan to use 1/4" brakeline. I have not yet competed and don't know if I will. I just don't want to build something that will exclude me from being able to compete. So my ultimate question is, can I build and how should I build a tuber so that I can still compete if I choose to? |

If you build a tube body that bolts to the TVP chassis it falls under the category of a "bodiless vehicle" and must meet the requirements of section 2.1.4. If it is for a super (class 1) then it must meet the size requirements of section 2.2.4. If it is for a 2.2 (class 2) then it must meet the size requirements of section 2.3.5. If it is for a 1.9 (class 3) then it must meet the size requirements of section 2.4.10. Last edited by Grizzly4x4; 02-16-2010 at 01:45 PM. |

Thank you, this helps but I still have questions. In section 2.1.4 it say self supporting. What does that mean exactly? What is considered structurally complete? It sounds like I can't use zipties to mount body panels. correct? Do they have to be bolted in place? In section 2.3.5. The height of 3.75" Does that mean the tuby body top to bottom ot bottom of chassis to top of roof? |
