Default Broken front axle

I was wheelin' tonight and broke my front axle coupling. I have 2.2s and I have done the low gear mod so something was bound to break. I was just wondering if any of you have had the same problem and what you did to fix it. I am going to try fixing it tomorrow, but I wanted to get some ideas before I started.

The gears can't be glued together because they need to move independently. I was thinking about jbing something I just don't know what yet. I need to look at it some more and see what I have laying around the house. But your input is greatly appreciated.

they dont need to move if you only use low gear//if you j,b,ed it you could remove the switch while you were at it.

make a new one out of aluminum or a piece of keystock. heck any metal will hold up better.

Thanks forr the help. I will probably try a piece of key stock. I know that I can lock it in low, but since I have done the low gear mod I like to be able to switch gears. I know that I might have to sacrifice my high gear to fix this. I'll try some stuff and let you guys know. Thanks for all the input, keep it coming though.

Don't sacrifice that high gear yet, I think I have your solution. I need to run to hobby shop for parts I'll see if they have what you need, I'll post it when I get back.

Ok,here it is simple enough. I found 1/4 brass square tubing at the HS in the metal section(I have seen these "metal stations" at local hardware store also) it fits perfectly in the nylint gear selector. I sanded white plastic square evenly on all sides untill it fit perfectly inside brass. Cut brass same length and done. So basically I "sleeved" the part you broke. I'm sure you can use your broken one since it will be contained by the brass just make sure its a tight fit.

by the time i decide to pick up a 1:18 to go with my 1:6, people will have come up with enough mods to make these things completely bombproof.

I think this needs to go in the mods section. I would do it but I don't know how.

I didn't have to sand the black drum at all. The square tubing fit in there perfect. You do have to sand the white piece though.
