I went to my LHS today to get a gear reduction box and while waiting at the counter i peered in to the glass cabinet crammed with motors.

What did i see... a mag mayhem!

The lady said she was cleaning the cabinet and the motor had fallen down the back out of site of anybody!

I was well chuffed. Even tho i just spent 30 notes on a new motor i had to have the mag mayhem.

I also got a 2.9:1 reduction box and i was wondering...

It came with a 13 tooth pinion to put on the motor and was wondering if i put 9 tooth pinion on what would the ratio be then?

The reduction gear has 38 teeth if that helps!

Well as you said, the stock ratio is 2.9:1. You get that number by dividing 38 by 13. So, if you are swapping a nine tooth pinion, you would take 38 divided by 9, giving you a 4.2:1 reduction. Just be sure to check if you can maintian a proper mesh when you use the 9 tooth pinion. Good score on the MM, by the way.

thanks a lot, ill probly buy a few different pinions and then figure out which is best from there!

I picked up a nos Kyosho 360ST just the other day...I had one of those back when they first came out....torque monster!

I have wanted a new one for several years and a friend had one that he didn't want!
