| How not to fix steering...
DO NOT take out the little sensor at the end of the motor... I thought it was a return to center sensor. It is actually a "servo saver" type sensor. I was just messing around to see what it would change... and its bad!. On a good note, though, using an I-hook to replace the broken steering sector mount worked great. It won't break, but it sure does break the steering housing when some idiot decides to hack the wires... Oh well, that's why I am building a clod... And I still have my real Jeep to beat on. I took out the p-meter also, and didn't like it at all. Some people on here ahve done it and like it...not me. I ended up stripping the hex on the gear shaft...

Haha, yeah, dont take out that pot. It's there as a position sensor. Basically what it does, is tell the servo board where the steering is, and the servo board tries to 'match up' the signal on the steering channel from the transmitter, with the signal from the steering pot. If they don't match, it runs the motor one way or the other until they do. If the pot never gets to the right spot, the servo board just keeps running the steering motor, waiting for it to 'move', whether it really IS moving or not. crunch. |

dually noted. will NOT remove the POT from the steering setup. so far my **** works great for steering, and am kinda glad the drivebelt for the steering slips because if not, I'd surely strip the gears out!
