Default Decked Out Nylint/kinda new way to mount 2.2's

I started this build a couple weeks ago.

Mods are as follows:

Tamiya TEU-101 ESC
Airtronics Blazer Radio
Stampede rims dyed black
Moabs
4 linked front/rear
Futaba s3003 Servo
Tummy tuck
Dovetailed body
Rewired motor leads to bigger gauge wire

Im crawls like crazy, the only complaint i have is with the servo. It just doesnt have enough torque. I'll be upgrading that pretty soon.

4.5" Rubicon Express lift on the XJ

The zip ties on the rear axle help pull the case halves together becuase i have some shims in there to keep the gear reduction case/motor from hopping around.

I'll try and get some pics of how to mount the wheels by the end of the day.

Very nice Nylint and Jeep you got there. I like the look of the big tires on the Nylint

To mount the 2.2's like i did you'l need 4 traxxas stampede front rims http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...7&I=LXJK63&P=K and some THICK CA glue (thin would be too hard to work with.) Take your nylint wheel/tire and take the 4 screws out of the back to remove the chrome hub....

The tire will be glued to the gray plastic backing piece. Peel the tire off of it.

Throw the tire aside. Now you'll have the two pieces looking like this...

Put the pieces together like this... Use some CA glue to glue them together...

Run the 4 screws in on the back...

It should now look like this...

The traxxas rims have a lip that sticks out to prevent the old nylint from sliding down too far (and gives you a point to glue to) So run a bead of your glue around the edge of the nylint hub combo ( the gray piece) and on the sides like the pictures show...

Now carefully stick your nylint hub combo into the wheel...

I was surprised at how strong the CA glue is!! I tried to break the two pieces apart and couldnt do it. So it is definitly strong enough for a little nylint....

This way of mounting will give you a little extra width... mine came out to be 10 1/4 " wide with the moabs.

Im sure someone has thought of this before me, i guess im just the first to write it up.

Hope this helps...

great looking jeep, real simple and effective. After I get done with the 4-link and 4:1 mod I think I'm going to have to spring for some 2.2 moabs. Still have stock steering though, hopefully not a problem. Have you had any issues with your axles rejecting the bigger tires? Also do you have any close ups of your body work/cage and your 4-link. For the body/cage work, did you just heat it up and bend?
Looks great

The axles seem to be holding up very well... No popping or clicking. I did this mod as a preventative measure 1:18 The REAL fix for clicking axles

As for the body/cage work i used a hacksaw, file, lighter, epoxy and the scrap pieces of body that had been cut off. Basically you just cut off however much you want and heat it up with the lighter and bend it to shape. Its really easy to heat the body up too much and completely screw up.
