Default traxxas slider question

I got the traxxas plastic sliders and plastic yokes and i'm having some problems... is there an easy way to install the metal cross piece that connects the slider to the yoke? i broke two yokes already trying to bend the plastic with a needlenose... is there something i am missing here??? thanks for any help you can give me

I use the same method you tried, but I just heat them up a little so they're not so brittle.

The tool that Traxxas sends with the truck kit works fine, just you need to weld a small handle to it so you can hang on to it. But it does the same as the pliers, bends the one tab up so the link snaps in. Does make them easier to soak them in hot water first for short time.

i use a big pair of channel locks and run it under the insta-hot for a few seconds

It's very easy with the right tool & the right technique. Download this assembly manual & check out page 8:

To make it even easier, make a yoke tool out of a screwdriver. It's ALOT easier to work with. Click here & scroll down to "Yoke Tool":

That's the tool I made to do mine and it works great. Like everyone else said make sure you warm them up first.
